AFL's Mini Axial Loose Tube

AFL offers the industry leading low diameter cables for carrier networks.

When duct space is at a premium, or a cost effective cable is required for access networks, AFL’s mini axial loose tube product is well suited.

With an exceptionally low diameter of only 5mm, the Mini axial loose tube minimises the cable footprint in duct, riser or ceiling spaces. Mini axial loose tube cable is ideal for short haul, point to point drop cable applications where duct space is limited. The water blocked, dry cable core design is available with fibre counts up to 12 fibres, making it ideally suited for building lead-in applications.

Based on AFL’s proven axial tube designs, mini axial loose tube eliminates the need for “filler” components to make up space within the cable. Combined with a non-metallic peripheral strength member, this minimises the overall cable diameter considerably, in comparison to traditional stranded cables.

The mini axial loose tube product range has been successfully utilised by a number of Australian telecommunications carriers, and is available with an industry standard insect-resistant nylon outer sheath. Optionally, the cable is available with a Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) sheath, commonly used for building lead-ins. Mini axial loose tube is manufactured by AFL with a range of optical fibre options, including AFL’s bend-insensitive optical fibres, which minimise the potential for losses due to macro-bending.

For a complete range of reduced diameter optical cables for telecommunications carriers, take a look at the AFL website at http://www.aflglobal.com/au.
